A chill suddenly crept over Ginny. But she knew it wasn’t because of the cold.

She shook her head slightly, trying to get rid of whatever was on her mind.
She knelt down to help another student get to his feet, and walked him to The Great Hall.

She also had bruises and blood all over her. But she didn’t care. Nothing could compare to the pain of losing one of her brothers. She could not bear to go back to her family now. It would be too hard to watch Fred, who was always so alive and full of energy, lying still and silent on the ground.

{Hermione?} She needed someone’s company. Someone who’s not in her family.
{Can you come with me?}

Hermione nodded, and left the Great Hall with Ginny.

{What is it? Ginny? Are you alright?} She too, had been crying, like most of her family.

Ginny didn’t answer the question.

{Hermione…where’s Harry?} Ginny eyes were out of focus. It was as if they were searching for Harry in the campus.

{I…..I don’t know…} But she knew, even if Harry didn’t tell.

He was gone as soon as they returned from the Shrieking Shack. But she wouldn’t dare to think that Harry went to face Voldemort himself.

{He went to find Voldemort, didn’t he?} Ginny wasn’t asking. It was a fact. Even though no one saw him, they all knew where he went.

Ginny’s eyes were welling up. The tears blurred her vision, but she quickly wiped it away, not willing to leave her sight from the woods, hoping that Harry would come back any minute.

Hermione put her arms around her, and they sat down on the stairs that faced the school grounds.

After a long moment of silence, Ginny suddenly asked,
{Hermione, have you ever thought of…what will happen? Have you ever thought that you and Ron can be together, get married someday, and even have kids?}

{Not really.} Hermione shook her head.
{I mean….we never know what will happen these days…you can never be sure what will happen. So you can never think about the future...cause the thought of not being with the one you love makes you upset.} Hermione replied bitterly. Ginny understood.

Everyone in this war was taking risks everyday. They may be laughing with you yesterday, and the next day, they were dead.

Just like Remus and Tonks. Just like Fred.

{But I dreamt of it. Even though I forbid myself to think of Harry…I still dreamt of marrying him, have a family with him. Somehow, I would wake up in the morning, sweating and crying. Cause dreams are after all, just dreams. Nothing more.} Ginny couldn’t stop herself from sobbing.

{I know…I know…} Hermione said softly, comforting Ginny.

And then, Voldemort’s voice came out of nowhere again, within the walls, the ceilings, and the floors.

Ginny hold Hermione’s hand tightly. Thought she could already guess what Voldemort would say…but she couldn’t bear to listen…..

{Harry Potter is dead. He was killed……}

Ginny automatically shut down her hears from the outside world. Voldemort’s voice seemed so far away.

She could feel that Hermione grabbed her arm so tight that ought to have feel the pain. But she felt nothing painful from her arm.

No. The most painful part was her heart.

And she could hold her strongness no more. Tears were falling like raindrops, washing away the blood on her face. She stood up without second thought, and ran outside towards Voldemort. Towards Harry.

And the only sound she could hear, was the voice of Harry making his first and only promise, repeating over and over again in her head.

{But I promise that, because of you, I would try my best to come back alive.}
